Understanding ESD

Are the garments tested for electrical surface resistance?

Right, CleverTex® working protective garments are tested (randomly) to ensure that they meet the required electrical resistance specified in the relevant part of the standard (EN 61340).

ESD functionality of the whole garment

Crafted from special yarns infused with carbon-coated fibers, CleverTex® anti-static wear offers superior protection against electrostatic discharge. To further enhance anti-static properties, we employ anti-static threads developed and manufactured exclusively by VUB a.s. This innovative stitching ensures the seamless transfer of charge throughout the garment, preventing the accumulation of static electricity.

A simple guide to identifying anti-static clothing.

ESD workwear (T-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, trousers, etc.) are characterized by dark strip pattern if knitted fabric or grid pattern in case the garnet is made of wovwen fabric (trouswrs, blouse...).

Just these   (made of antistatic fibres) ensure the desired property - conductivity of the fabric.

What makes workwear suitable for preventing electrostatic discharge?

The ESD property is provided by special yarns containing a precise amount of carbon-coated polyester fibers to prevent the build-up of electrostatic charge ensure compliance with the requirements of EN 61340-5-1. These conductive yarns create the black stripes.

The antistatic property of our garment is permanentin aby case it is not some short-term property like a coating, for example.

Antistic properties of Clevertex garment endure even after repeated cleaning and maintenance procedures. Our garments undergo testing for 50 wash cycles, after which  the surface electrical resistance value measured by the sleeve-to-sleeve method of R < 1 x 1011 Ω (EN 61340) required by the Standard.
